1. Playstation Network (PSN), what?
From wiki,
PlayStation Network, often abbreviated to PSN (and sometimes called PlayStation Online), is an online multiplayer gaming and digital media delivery service provided by Sony Computer Entertainment for use with the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable video game consoles, as well as PlayStation.com.
The service is free. All that is required is an email address. You need a PSN account to access the online functionalities that PS3 games may offer (i.e online multiplayer in Call of Duty)
If you were a Xbox or Wii user prior to getting Sony’s newest console, the closest comparison that the PSN can be compared to would be Xbox Live and the Wii Shop Channel respectively.
2. What do I need to create a PSN account?
Simple! All you need is a working email address.
3. I want to access a specific country’s online store, how do I set one up?
This is the magical question that many who are new to PSN are often stumped with. The question, while simple, has many answers.
You should have 2 accounts ideally for this specific purpose. One for your Singapore Asia PSN & another for your US PSN.
Generally, updates on the online store would reach the US PSN far faster than the Singapore Store. So, if you don’t mind paying a few dollars extra to get the latest DLCs or games the US PSN is the store for you!
The critical information that you would need is the state and zip code, feel free to fill in a random address.
Zip code: 99501
City, state: Anchorage, Alaska
The benefit of using Alaska for your US PSN is that there would be no additional taxes on top of the item cost unlike other states. Feel free to use any other tax free state if you feel like doing so.
For the Singapore store, fill in your own home address would do just fine.
4. My credit card is not accepted! How do I fund my account?
Easy you would need a PSN card that matches the region that your PSN is registered to.
For US Stores, you would need a US PSN Card.
For UK Stores, you would need a UK PSN Card.
This PSN FAQ is still work in progress. If you do have any tips to share do feel free to drop me a mail and I would be happy to add it in.
