3rd Space Vest is produced by TN Games. It is a vest that allows you to feel the bullets when you play one of the many supported FPS. Imagine it as the opposite of bullet proof vest.
Now, that is a really crazy idea to begin with. Why would a normal human want to penalize himself in game? *shrug*
So anyway, I went on to try out the vest, taking care to keep it loose so I do not hurt myself too much. We learn from Kick Ass that “at a close range like this, the force is going to take you off your feet for sure, but it is really no more painful than a punch in the chest”. I hate getting punched in the chest.
That was a mistake. It got really really ticklish. I wriggled in my vest like a worm.
So anyways, here is the review proper after I buckled up.
The vest does not feel overly heavy, which is good. But it feels a little warm though, which is really bad for this side of the world. The accuracy of the vest is passable, but then again I can’t be sure where I am being hit to begin with. When I get hit, the vest will prod me. Yes. It feels exactly like your friend prodding your stomach, your chest or your back. The feeling is closer to ticklish than pain. I’m guessing maybe because the motor does not have enough power to drive a real shot at you. I would suggest having a knob in future so that the user can adjust the pain level.
If you are in the market for similar products, this is definitely a highly recommended accessory. It adds a little realism to your game and the vest functions well. Was it a fun ride? Hell yeah! But would I pay US$139 for this vest? Maybe not…
