An email we sent out earlier to our pre-order customers:

We hope this piece of information will excite you as much as we are!

We have been able to procure confirmed copies of the EU/UK versions of the Collector’s Edition for SGD$100 and we are expecting the title to arrive before release date.

On top of that, we will be able to get UK prepaid cards for the game as well.

As the exchange rate stands, the difference between UK & US subscription prices is a dollar difference in favour of the US in terms of savings.

UK£ 8.99 = 18.57

12.99 U.S. dollars = 17.47

Keeping that in mind, the UK copy of the game is cheaper by SGD$50.

As ideal as an digital download might sound for the US edition for the game, the EU/UK edition right now is showing the stronger benefits.

We do hope that you be able to take advantage of the savings and switch to the EU/UK edition of the game.

It appears that Square would like to make things rather difficult for players around the globe to play together.

According to this piece of news found here, players would be grouped according to their place of residence.

That’s not the worrying part. The portion that SEA players need to pay special attention to would be this piece of text:

Please make sure to purchase the software specifically developed for your registered country of residence or we cannot ensure that you will be able to use it.

So, do we fall under EU & Others or traditionally grouped together with the American version?

Please do note that the copy that we are going to carry for the CE version of the game would be the North American version, thus do take note before pre-ordering.

I will keep you guys updated as more news develops.

  1. Chys says:

I would like to clarify that the above is meant for admin and billing purposes… the servers are all international…

  2. Gerald says:

    2 scenarios:

If I get the NA game, and register under a bogus NA account, everything will be fine? ala Classic WoW

If I get the NA game, and register under EU & Others will there be any issues? Or will they disallow my cd-key and make me register under NA?

These are the questions I’m currently seeking out, PO CE here too!

  3. Adrian says:

Yeah, now I am not sure whether to continue with the CE preorder. Just wanted to play in a region suitable in Singapore ….

  4. Chys says:

That’s exactly the problem, there is a possibility that the key given is restricted to the region only. ie in order to pay for your subscriptions properly, you need to declare your country of residence correctly; in our case that will be EU. That means that you will have to probably get a US credit card and address so that you can use your NA key…

But then again, right now the registation portal dun even have Singapore listed… so we are really on our own currently…

  5. Gerald says:

So even if we registered under EU, will the system be non-anal and accept our credit card?

I’d be see worried if we were grouped under NA, at least there’s the option of citibank.

  6. Chys says:

No one knows for sure now man… no clarity at all…

  7. Hardi says:

Just wondering, how was the arrangement for ffxi last time? Was it the same like this?

Can any ffxi players enlighten us?

  8. pietoro says:

    In FFxi
    1) All servers are regionless. If you are in Ragnarok server, it means the same wherever you are in the world.
    2) Your account is region based. This is very important because your billing and subsequent expansions are based on it. And I believe, it is this account issue that will be giving future ffxiv players problem seeing as to how it already is a knotty issue in ffxi. In ffxi, you need an address in that region and a working credit card. Of course, your address need not necessary be real BUT your credit card needs to be accepted by them.

  9. Shawn says:

But seriously… that we are not on the list is pretty silly of them. (Says it politely, but leaves every bit of the frustration in tone…)

That East Timor (now known as The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste ) is recognized and listed while we are not, is just plain ridiculous.

I’m currently waiting for SE (NA) to respond to my inquiry… and if they tell me to go to the China (aka Asian listing) website to register in Chinese, I’ll stop being polite. >_<

  10. Ciel says:

I signed up for the open beta and i used a fake US address and ZIP. Needless to say, it worked. Payment wise, may or may not be complicated. And i guess i wouldn’t want to be clumped up with the EU region, since paying in Euros is just not cool.

  11. Liang says:

I believe this should be the same for FF14.

For those that didn’t play FF11. It works something like this:

If your FF11′s version is from North Amercian, then the account you created on SE’s website has to be from region “NA”, if you happen to put the wrong region and made the account, you will not be able to link your FF account to the account on the website.
Which happens to me when i first made the website’s account. My ff11 was from NA and i put “Europe & other region” on the website’s account.
What i did was to recreate another account on the website ;x

For account information in the game’s account , you just have to input a bogus NA address/name/postal code/ tel..etc.

But for your billing address, please put the actual name and country..etc
For FF11, SE implement a policy at a later stage that requires all new credit cards that register with the account to be 3-D verified. A countermeasure against RMT.

  12. Dashwolf says:

I have asked a rep here in the chat earlier regarding this but he said he has to check with a supplier so i’m just gonna post the same question here hoping it gets answered soon.

There is FF14 preorder bonus item which is the onion helm for anyone who preorders any version of FF14.
    http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/videogames/promos/FFX14_PreSale_CE.gif
Will the preorders from Qisahn.com be entitled to this deal as well?
If so, i’ll be happy to cancel my amazon order and get from you guys as well!

  13. Gerald says:

Yes! You will get the Onion Helm!

  14. MatterDoes says:

So whats the outcome should i buy or should i not?

will i get to play with all my SG kakis in which server or wat region?

credit card is the easy way?

US/EU? cheaper? monthly or just for the first part?

whats the issue update for Square Enix registration?

  15. Dashwolf says:

one of my problems is that my pol account that is tied to my square account identifies my account in the NA region, I will be unable to use the UK edition i think… It seems that Qisahn have removed the US edition listing from their preorders too… i guess i have to order it elsewhere now :(

  16. Shawn says:

    There goes my gauntlets…

I have the codes for it…
    For the Japanese version. T_T
(No, I was living in Tokyo back then… and pre-ordered FFXIII)

  17. Sam says:

Hi guys, I’m gotta be trying up this game too but wondering so I buy the EU or NA set to play with majority Singaporean..? I understand that there are already 18 Servers so is it true the EU/NA version aren’t any difference..?

Do enlighten me as Aion do have such issue on have a set of servers for EU and NA =)

  18. the expert says:

“It appears that Square would like to make things rather difficult for players around the globe to play together.”

The world is big and round. It is not easy to have a control for all games. Making the game difficult to be played in Singapore? Singapore isn’t one of the countries with the most no. of gamers…If I were an investor, I’d focus on USA, China or some other big country.

  19. zoo says:

I have the same problem with registration in Hong Kong with EU version. How silly that my first time raging to delete the half-reg account and lost the registration code. Officer reply to me that is forever gone. Now I have got the second box. Officer refuse to advise on the registration. I know ff registration is frustrated for non-supporting area (there is no China version, whole Asia out of sight). I do want to know how many addresses it really need? And anyone of them cannot fake? And the actually payment method available, like Visa, paypal, etc. This SE is a stupid company for frustrating customer.
