It’s happening again! In case you missed the first round of deals that appeared early this year in conjunction with Chinese New Year, Sony is slashing prices on many games found on the Playstation Network! Cheap games. Local credit card. Ease of payment. Did I mention great prices again?
Come December 14th to January 5th next year, a good number of top rated games for the PS3 and PSP will be going for HALF their original price!
In case, you are still skeptical, I’ve taken the liberty to give you a small price comparison with the US PSN Store and our own local store.
Here’s a rundown of what I think are the best buys this season (Prices are all BEFORE the discount, snapshot as of December 14th 2010):
After Burner
Retro arcade flight sim, good for the memories
US PSN – USD9.99
SG PSN – SGD13.99
Shatter
Heard of Breakout? Combine awesome soundtrack and graphics, this game is a winner!
US PSN – USD7.99
SG PSN – SGD16.99
Braid
Indie game of the year, what else can you say? Best buy of the season.
US PSN – USD14.99
SG PSN – SGD21.49
Rockman 9
Not the easiest game, but fun for the hardcore crowd. Remember: Never smash your controller in frustration.
US PSN – USD9.99
SG PSN – SGD15.50
TMNT Turtles in Time
The old school arcade beat-em-up gets a GFX update. With this and the new (old) X-men arcade game on the horizon, you might want to consider if this title is a steal.
US PSN – USD9.99
SG PSN – SGD15
Catan
I’ve putting this game for awareness purposes. The computer AI cheats. Good buy? Not really. Only fun with human opponents, stick to the board game.
US PSN – USD6.99
SG PSN – SGD18.99
All games are sharable with up to 4 more PS3s excluding your own. So, share with your fellow friends to split to costs!

A pretty piece of good news to share for the above title!

We have opened up the order on our preorder page but with a small catch.
The game won’t hit our shores on the exact date but we can confirm it will be a good $10 off the retail price you would find in most places on release date. We are looking at a price lower than $60! For a first party title, this is definitely a steal for Nintendo fans.
Onto the gameplay itself, it’s pretty much a mish-mash of genres this time. Being the first third person perspective Metroid game, it may put seasoned Metroid fans off. Worry not, as the same could be said about the Prime series when it jumped to first person.
All the exploratory aspects of the Metroid series would be still present and with the third party action being handled by the team behind Ninja Gaiden, Mario better take a step back as Samus is about to show off the monster tackling chops.
Check out the preorder page for this title!

In case you don’t get news from Facebook, we are having weekly specials for the month of April.

You decide the platform, we decide the games and will make sure that we will break records for new lows in game prices in Singapore!
This week, 90% of voters have chosen PS3 as the platform of their choice and we have selected LittleBigPlanet!
The next poll to decide which discounted game platform will be up soon and run for a full week, watch out for it.
Get LittleBigPlanet now for $20!

And there is nothing wrong in leveling the playing field.
You play games to have fun not get 0wned over and over again.

What is unique to the deal on the 10th of December is apart from getting the FragFX at ony $99, if you get out there and find ANY receipt from Qisahn that has an FPS (first person shooter) title on it you get an additional $11 off!
The cheap just got even cheaper. Talk about stacking discounts.
Few FPS-es I can think off my head is COD MW, MW2, Killzone, ummmm, World at War…did I miss anything out?

Bigger is always better right? Not exactly when comparing the SKUs of the upcoming (already released depending where you shop) 250GB PS3.

Here’s the math: Currently $455 nets you a 120GB PS3 if you really wish to have more hard disk space, you can always buy an 2.5″ SATA drive and install it yourself.
A Hitachi/Samsung 250GB HDD costs an additional $82, I’m not pulling prices from the air, I got my data here. It is a shop from Sim Lim Square in Singapore
So, in order to upgrade your 120GB PS3 into a 250GB one you would have an overall expenditure of $537. Which is $22 more than the cheapest 250GB PS3 I have seen listed around the web for a retail store in Singapore.
But how can more be better? You get a 120GB HDD for only $22 of course!
More cash paid yes. Better value? We have a definite winner!
What pains me to inform potential PS3 owners is that in a few weeks time, the only SKU available for sale would be the 250GB PS3. Like I mention time and again, 120GB is more than enough to fulfill your gaming needs. And as the math suggests, the 120GB provides better value as well.
Summary
120GB PS3 – $455
250GB PS3 – $515
250GB 2.5″ SATA – $82
Upgrading a 120GB PS3 – $537
Difference – $ 22
Net gain – 120GB HDD
To make use of the extra HDD, all you need is an enclosure that costs $10.
Let your wallet be the judge, I hope this data has been useful in helping you make your purchase decision.

The deal for the 8th of December would be Sony’s newest handheld, the PSP GO going for only $299!
The reason why I’m skipping a day is because our member’s have snapped up all our copies of Batman: Arkham Asylum we had for the 7th. Nothing beats getting the best deals first.

Included with a purchase of the PSP GO would be Rock Band Unplugged so you have something to jam with on your brand new console while deliberating which game would be your next purchase.
Remember guys Facebook reservations start now!
Copy this line into the wall of our Facebook fan page: Give me that PSP GO at $299! I want it!
Now wasn’t that easy?
