Like every new console, PS Vita has its fair share of hardware issues. The good news though, is most are not fatal. If your PS Vita is unable to power on or unable to detect SIM card, you probably tried to change your SIM card while the PS Vita is powered. Please only change your SIM cards after you fully shutdown your PS Vita, or until Sony patches the bug.

Bought the brand new FIFA 11 or Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and realized your online key is not working? Fret not, the fix is fast and easy.

All you need would be a new PS3 user account, an unused email for Playstation Network registration and 15 mins of your time!

The reason why certain PSN codes do not work with any Playstation Network account is because these codes are usually locked by region. So, if you have purchased an R1 (US) copy of, say, Battlefield Bad Company: Ultimate Edition, you will need to first register an R1 (US) Playstation Network account before you are able to redeem the code.

No worries, your code is still working and you do not need to email the respective support lines for help.

Head on over to our super user-friendly Playstation Network account guide to get you started on creating a US PSN account!

Remember, the key aspect in ‘fooling’ the registration system into thinking that you are in the US would be using the correct combination in terms of City, State and Zip Code. Addresses can be totally bogus, tried and tested.

Creating Sony Playstation Network accounts cross regions are totally legit and some Playstation owners have multiple accounts in order to access the European, Japanese or even the Australian PSN Stores. But, in most cases, the US PSN store is by far the most superior followed by the European one.

Here’s where is gets a little tricky as the rule does not apply to all games across the board.

So, let’s start off with perennial favourite, Fifa 11. Once they key has been redeemed, you are free to play the game online with any region account. This is the most ideal situation.

On the other hand, games like Gran Turismo 5, get’s rather finicky about how you get to play content. For GT5, if you have redeemed a R1 code, you will need to have an R1 disc to access the content. So, if you were to sell the R1 copy of the game and in the future decide to play the game again and scored an R3 disc. You will be able to play the core game, but when it comes to the content, you will not be able to access it.

The general rule of thumb for downloadable content is as such – Content will always be purchased from the same region as the origin of the disc. In other words, R1 disc purchases will be made at the US PSN and R3 purchases to be made on the local store (if any).

I hope this extra-time titbit will clear up any further doubts.

Being Asians we are all about getting the cheapest deals and bang for buck. This post draws up how much motion gaming will cost you for all the current generation consoles.

Let’s lay down a few assumptions:

  • Controllers enough for 4 players to participate
  • SRP will be used for price comparison

Xbox 360 Kinect

Coming in at a cool $229, the Kinect comes with one free game, Kinect Adventures.

The Kinect can support up to 4 players. Dance Central being the only one at the meantime. Right now, most developers are putting a soft cap on how many active players are supported.

Potentially more can be supported as time goes on but how big is your living room?

Playstation Move

A basic bundle that comes with one game typically starts from $139. This nets you a Move controller and a Playstation Eye. Good for one player only.

Each additional player needs at minimum another Move controller which costs $69. As of writing, 4 players appears to be the cap for most games. NBA 2k11 states that it can support up to 7! But for comparison sake we’ll be taking the price for 4 players.

A bundle with 3 additional Move controllers will set you back for $346.

Nintendo Wii

Released late last year, the Wii Motion Plus completes the controller set that had taken the world by storm since 2006.

A controller that needs little introduction, a set of controllers consisting of a Wiimote, Nunchuck and Motion would cost $90 (our store prices).

As a set of controller are found in most Wii consoles these days, all you need are 3 more, which would cost an additional $270.

So, as it stands now, the Microsoft 360′s Kinect actually is the cheapest if you were to consider a 4 player setting. But in a 2 player setting, the reverse is true – The Wii would be the cheapest, follow by the Playstation Move.

You do the math!

Wondered how to get hold of the fabled application Shazam? It’s not on the local iTunes store!

Fret not, with just 5 minutes and by following this guide, you would be able to explore the many various iTunes stores available on the Internet. The concept is roughly the same, just that payment methods might get a bit tricky.

Step 1:

Fire up iTunes and change your country to the US.

Step 2:

Whilst not logged in, click on the App Store and download a free app.

Step 3:

The reason why we download a free app is because you want to get the option “None” that allows you to create an account without a proper billing address.

Step 4:

Use a new email address. If you used your old email, it would be already registered under the system and tied to the country you previously selected.

So, in the future if you want to access the US store. Login with your US store email and vice versa.

Step 5:

Here’s the critical juncture.

Use the following important details to complete the registration:

City – LA

State – CA, California

Zip – 90210

I’ve not sure if using other states results in sales tax but California is the safest bet at the moment.

Step 6:

And you are done!

If you need funding for your brand new iTunes account, you can grab prepaid cards from us!

We have a pretty awesome rate for them right now =D

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Historically, the lowest price point of the PS3 was a fortnight back BEFORE the computer show (surprise!). But, that will not stop Singaporeans from asking. After all no harm in muttering a few words right?

And even if prices fall, it won’t be a major difference from the suggested retail price in stores, honestly. Freebies may be thrown in during the show but consumers will be disappointed if they are expecting a direct slash of prices after braving the crowd.

That being said, if you really do prefer bundle deals (which gives a false sense of savings), Microsoft usually has a better track record at such things with their Xbox 360 during such consumer sale frenzy shows.

Don’t get me started on the Wii. Such shows are a parent trap preying on the unsuspecting dad/mom who wants to reward their kid for their stellar exam grades.

As with all things tech, today’s prices will always be higher than tomorrow’s. It is an unending cycle.

So, unless you are headed down to grab a new printer or camera, you are better off hunting for deals at home than wading through bodies of fellow human beings in search of that ever elusive discount.

The cheapest PS3 / Xbox 360 /  Wii will be the one you buy tomorrow. Just grab the console and never look forward (at prices)!

Electronic payment is all the rage these days especially when Apple fever is sweeping the country.

Although it may be very obvious what may constitute as shady and what is not on the Internet. The methods of fraud are changing constantly and we hope this guide serves to help out those that are new to the realm of pre-paid cards to find out what’s legit and prevents you from getting scammed.

We would just like to highlight the various pitfalls that you may encounter during your process of searching.

If you are too lazy to read on, just read the first point.

Never, NEVER, Buy Accounts!

This is by far the most important point I have to state.

If you buy accounts from sources, you risk getting your console getting banned outright (for the PS3) preventing it from ever going online and you lose everything that you have purchased for that account (both iTunes and PS3)

How this works is that open such accounts are funded with credit cards that are stolen or with credit cards that have been maxed out.

A stolen credit card fraud is the greater evil as you could be implicated in any investigation as you are essentially buying items using stolen goods.

Such a scam has actually hit Singapore which was actually one of the first few maiden posts at the start of this blog.

Users familiar to the name Prinsipe and have bought accounts from him have had their PS3 consoles shut down totally from accessing online functions. Do check out the full report here. Not much updates since, but he’s not only hit Singapore, but Indonesia and the Philippines as well.

An account that has been funded with a credit card that the scammer has no intention of paying off the bill is equally frustrating. I have personally fallen victim to such a scam.

A good indication of a scam account would be that the seller claims that the buyer would need to spend all the credit within 2 weeks. No legit pre-paid card has such a clause.

Eventually, once a credit card company realizes that they are not getting any payment. They would be systematically reposessing anything that they can in their power. That would mean shutting down access to the content that you have purchased. They have their ways.

For me, I was unable to play my game. I got off pretty easy.

This infographic give a good insight into how Monster (the company) tries to ‘add value’ to their product to coerce the consumer into making a bad purchase decision.

Bottom line: All HDMI cables give the same picture quality, price could differ due to brand and quality in construction of the cable, picture quality does not suffer!

Hit the jump to check out the infographic.
