Well the answer is simple – Whether or not you bought a $300 Monster cable or a generic no-brand $10 cable, the difference in picture quality is zero! The price does increase with brand and length, and of course, cable construction should be better as well.

The only thing I have to say is that if you did buy a $300 cable it means your tech intelligence is inversely proportional to the amount you spent. The more you spent on the cable, the lesser your tech savviness is. I sincerely do hope that you did read this article before making a purchase of a HDMI cable to enjoy the most vivid picture quality that you can have right in your living room.

Not much of a guide but for HDMI cables, price does not matter for picture quality. That’s the bottom line. Price does differ for brand name and length, that’s about it.

The important take-away for this posting is that with the increased proliferation of devices that support a HDMI output, it is important to know if you are bring overcharged/swindled for a cheap knock-off. The cable may be a brand name and works well, but the price you pay may very well be one that is a generic cable that is passed off as a branded one just like the Microsoft HDMI cable in the following pictures.

hdmi 1

Looks rather legit for both so far.

HDMI 2-1

And the plot thickens..

hdmi 3

As you can see, the difference between the two is very minimal and even without this guide I’m pretty sure many would be fooled, myself included. When there’s money to be made, there’s always a Chinese factory out there trying to make a quick buck.

I do hope this guide has been helpful in your search of a HDMI cable. Do email me at blog@qisahn.com if you find anything useful I might add into the post.

Got your new PSP from Qisahn but for some strange reason the battery went flat on your way home and now you need to do the chickHEN mod all over again. Not to worry, now we have a Youtube guide!

In case its still not working out for you try to:

  • Restore default settings (found under settings > system settings > third last option)
  • Let the text of the first picture (chickHENa) appear/load, then move down and highlight the second picture
  • Remove any UMD
  • Delete any pictures in the memory card
  • Change language to multilingual (settings > system settings > character set > second option)
  • Delete egghunt.bin if it exists (connect PSP to computer)

Good luck. We are only a chatbox away!

We would have loaded the chickHEN files in your memory card. Please back up your card.

The correct way to run chickHEN:

1. Power on your PSP.
2. Scroll left to the “PHOTO” icon
3. Scroll down to “Memory Stick”
4. Select memory stick. (Either press X or O)
5. If there is a folder which says chickHEN, select it.
6. The chickHEN photos will load from top to bottom. Do not touch anything
7. If PSP hangs and powers off (normally with a “pop” sound), restart process from step 1. You might need to do this up to 10 times!
8. If PSP automatically restarts, you are done!

To verify, scroll left to settings, scroll down to system settings, scroll down to system information. Under “version”, you will see 5.03 chickHEN R2.

Troubleshooting
These suggestions might help to improve success rate.

1. Remove any extra pictures you have added into the PSP
2. Remove UMD
3. When pictures are loading, scroll down to picture number 2.
4. Power on your PSP from standby mode just before you run the pictures. (Put PSP to standby by briefly switching power to “off”)
5. Restore default settings
6. Enter Settings, System settings, Character set. Change Language to multilingual.
7. In memory card, if you see a egghun.bin, delete it.

If you are still unable to solve it, I’m afraid you need to come look for us again.

Your PSP is a great multimedia player. Learn to convert videos for PSP to maximize its potential! We highly recommend PSP Video 9 for PSP video conversion. Download it from their website.

Pros

* Very user friendly
* Updated
* Makes great quality conversion
* Many settings to tweak for the sophisticated user

Cons

* Many advertisements in the program
* Lacks conversion capabilities for non-PSP formats

We hate the in-program advertisements, but without revenue from the advertisements, the author will probably not be motivated to improve the program. We have tried many other free PSP Video converters and none come close to the ease of use of PSP Video 9.

Tips:

If you get errors cropping videos, try changing the pixels cropped to even numbers.

Native resolution of a PSP is 480 * 272 pixels. Converting to this standard gives you the best video quality on a PSP.

The Nintendo DS series, namely the original DS, DS Lite, DSI are all easily hacked with a special device called “flash cartridge”. Think of this as an adapter to convert a memory card, for example micro SD, to an original game cartridge size, something like how you convert micro SD to a bigger card size…

Microsd adapter

For most people, flash carts serve only 1 purpose, for piracy. However, flash carts are pretty useful too as it enables homebrew (programs coded by third party programmers and distributed freely) for your DS Lite. Notable homebrew are SvSIP (for making VOIP calls with DS, yes, way cool!), CheckNDS (for checking the hardware), Colours (Drawing tool on the DS) and most importantly, Moonshell. Moonshell allows multimedia playback on the DS. Play MP3, convert and play video files.

Now, if you want to buy flash cart in Singapore, my advise is, please don’t. Sadly, flash cards are illegal in Singapore. I will explain more in a later post. Since these are illegal, expect to pay a premium if you are able to find them locally.

There are many countries in the world where flash carts are still legal. They are marketed as “multimedia card” to avoid links with piracy but essentially nothing has changed (that is why they are still illegal here). Google for “buy ds multimedia card” and you will get tons of information.

I’ll like to remind you that piracy is illegal in all countries. Piracy is bad for the game industry and we do sell original DS games at really good prices.  The only reason why I am posting this is to lament the loss of consumer rights, the right to do legal things to what we own.

Say No to Piracy, Be Creative, Be Original, Be HIP.

P.S. I placed the last line to give it an official ring. In reality, I hate government initiated campaigns. I am not another drone within this colony. I celebrate vibrancy and individuality.

Google for “Hack Wii” and you will be flooded with results. This guide is meant to clear the air a little but you are still expected do a lot of research if you want to hack your Wii. This guide will be written in layman’s language. Techies please don’t shoot me. Newbies, please let me know what you do not understand.

Imagine hacking your Wii as chasing after a girl. I hope the start sounds layman enough ;) Sorry hetrosexual female readers, I don’t chase guys, so please turn lesbians for a while.

Dating 101: Attack her weakness. Find an exploit. Let’s pretend in my example, our girl likes diamonds (sorry this is a bit low, but girls please don’t deny ok?). Guys, what do you do? Buy her fake diamond jewelery! Anyway, this applies to the Wii too. Except running an exploit on a Wii is much simpler. Wiis only have two exploits (for now), Twilight hack and Bannerbomb. I’ll skip Twilight hack as it is now replaced by Bannerbomb. No point learning an outdated trick on a girl. You’ll only waste time and appear loserish.

Bannerbomb is the latest exploit for hacking all Wiis. Click to go to the developer’s page and read the instructions. If you have problems following the instructions, give up on online dating. You’ll only get eaten by dinosaurs.

Ok, so now we got her on her knees, what are we going to do? In order to keep the content of the blog safe from MDA, I shan’t explain further on the girl story. But the idea is there, after the exploit, we can now run OUR instructions.

For the Wii, instructions come in the form of programs, programs coded by 3rd party programmers. Popular ones are DVDX, Backup Loader, USB Loader, Wadmanager. The last three are not exactly for legal purposes, but that explains their popularity right? Remember, you must name these programs boot.dol or boot.elf and only place them in the root of your SD card in order to run them. Name it wrongly and you will go home high and dry.

Now, are we going to keep using this weakness to get to her? Generally diamonds are not cheap. Send her too many and she will know it is fake eh? What do we do then? Make her the girlfriend, or better still the wife. It is like creating a shortcut, installing a backdoor! You no longer have to send her diamonds in order to execute instructions on her

How do we install a backdoor? How do you even propose to your girlfriend? Diamond ring of course! Run the exploit one last time in order to execute backdoor.dol (name it to boot.dol pls) and you are probably done forever. Prominent “backdoors” on the Wii are Homebrew Channel and Loadmii. Homebrew Channel is stunning graphics wise but more troublesome as there is a specific naming convention to follow. Loadmii is the stripped bare version which I prefer as it is less troublesome. IMO, the whole point of hacking is not to create nice backdoors but to run fun programs. Why buy huge diamonds when a small one will do the trick? The extra can money can be spent buying PS3.

And so, this concludes my guide to hacking the Wii. Please leave comments! I really love to here from you people =]

For those with PSPs hacked to play illegal games,  your carefree days might be numbered. The following information is for intellectual discussion. Piracy is definitely not being encouraged or condoned here.

For ISOs to function, the memory stick needs to have three folders: ISO, PSP and GAME. With any of these gone, your ISOs will not load. Sony’s latest PSP game, Rock Band Unplugged automatically deletes PSP > GAME folder, thus your ISOs will be hidden from your PSP.

For now, the program is very ineffective. Users can easily recreate the GAME folder and everything will be restored. Moreover, the block is weak as it can only delete empty GAME folders. A simple prevention is thus keeping a random file in the GAME folder.

I might not be a programmer, but if Sony is able to delete your GAME folder from the memory stick, I do not see how they cannot delete anything more. And I’m not just referring to your memory stick, but also your PSP software! This becomes really tricky for most pirates (not you) as most of these people do not follow such developments. It can cause serious mayhem to the community.

Well, to those who are not playing original games, I can only say you got to be really careful now. It feels as if Sony is trying to introduce a virus into their own system. Do consider going original too~ it is the best bet in the long run =]
