Anyone remember what this does?

This is actually a bundled peripheral that used to come with the Bomberman game for the SNES. Since then, multiplayer games have gone a long way but it appears that the magic number of participants in a multiplayer game seems to be four in order to achieve great success!

Two is too little. Three is an odd triple. And anything more than four and you would have more or less ventured into MMO territory.

Most games these days often have a multiplayer aspect to it in order to extend its lifespan. Uncharted 2 was the most recent one that I played which included a multiplayer option. It is pretty fantastic in its own right but somehow the feeling does not really click.

Let us not forget that even the tough-as-nails Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 includes a multiplayer option in the follow-up title. Enough said, playing alone sucks and nothing beats playing with friends or beating them up.

As we head into November what multiplayer games can we look out for to whet our social appetite, lemme give you a quick list:

Borderlands

Lego Rock Band

Band Hero

Left 4 Dead 2

Any of the millions of sports games suddenly released

And not forgetting, Modern Warfare 2

Did I miss out any mentions? Sadly Dragon Age Origins would be a single player affair, pity though, as I thought it would be well with a group of friends.

By the time this post is out I do hope that Borderlands has already hit the store, else you can come on down the XGS 2009 to check out the game itself and see if it is worth shelling out the cash for.

As the month draws to a close it only means one thing – PREPARE FOR A TRIPLE WHAMMY OF MUSIC BASED GAMES!

DJ Hero, Band Hero & Lego Rock Band close up this year’s music video game releases.

This is not including GH Smash Hits, GH5 and The Beatles: Rock Band that were released this year as well.

Oops! And I forgot all about Lips on the 360.

By the way, those few of you who are interested in jumping onto the fake plastic rock bandwagon be warned. The upcoming Band Hero instrument bundle would be blowing that wallet out of your pocket.

Here’s a hint: The cost of the bundle would retail more than Rock Band 2 Special Edition does over at the main site.

I would be most definitely be getting Lego Rock Band and hold out for DJ Hero for this burst. What will you be getting?
